Support
Most questions are answered in the User Guide. For anything it doesn't cover — or anything that looks like a bug — email is the way in.
Reporting a problem
Email jotset@icloud.com. A report is much easier to act on when it includes:
- Your device and iOS version.
- The JotSet version, from Settings → About.
- What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead.
- Whether iCloud sync, Apple Health and rest notifications are on, if the problem touches any of them.
A .workoutlog.zip package contains your real training records. A description and a screenshot are almost always enough to start, and an export can be requested later if it's genuinely needed.
Common questions
Where is my data kept?
On your device. If you turn on Sync with iCloud, it also syncs through your own private iCloud database. There is no JotSet account and no JotSet server. The privacy page covers this in full.
Do I need iCloud?
No. A new installation starts with iCloud sync off and keeps your data on this device. To sync with your other devices, turn on Settings → iCloud → Sync with iCloud and confirm. It reconnects with your current Apple Account; different Libraries do not automatically merge and may require conflict recovery. Turning it off keeps local data and pending Cloud changes, and leaves iCloud and other installations unchanged. Your choice persists. A reset or incomplete download can temporarily prevent changes, with a reason shown.
How do I back up, or move to a new device?
Settings → Data Portability → Export All JotSet Data saves a single JotSet Export.workoutlog.zip backup wherever you choose. On a new device, choose Import JotSet Export when you set up JotSet, or use Import and Merge JotSet Data in Settings. Importing shows you what it will do before anything is written, and re-importing content you already have doesn't duplicate it.
If you use iCloud, choose Start Clean on the new device, then turn on Sync with iCloud in Settings. If a different Library is already in iCloud, choose Replace With iCloud Library in the recovery screen to use it.
How do I switch between pounds and kilograms?
Settings → Measurement and Appearance → Distance/Weight Unit chooses lb/mile or kg/meter. It sets the units for your body weight and the defaults for new exercises. Exercises and workouts you already have keep their saved units; change an exercise's own unit in its Weight Defaults.
Why does a bodyweight Set ask for my body weight?
Each bodyweight or assisted Set records the body weight it was logged with, beside its reps. A new Set takes it from Settings → Body weight; if none is on file, the Set asks for one before it can be completed. Changing Settings later never changes a Set you've already saved — correct an older Set's body weight from History.
My rest alert didn't arrive
Background alerts need Background notifications on in Settings → Rest Timer Notifications, and JotSet allowed to notify you in iOS Settings. The in-app timer runs regardless. One timer only ever produces one alert, so if you're looking at the app you won't also get a banner.
Apple Health isn't showing my workouts
Reading and saving are separate switches under Settings → Apple Health. Reading starts from the day you turn it on and goes forward — use Backfill Apple Health for earlier history. Workouts JotSet itself recorded are filtered out of what it reads back in.
How do I delete everything?
Settings → Reset All Data offers a backup, describes its scope, and runs once you type RESET to confirm. It cannot be undone. With sync off it clears only this installation. A synchronized reset can delete the iCloud Library and reach other installations; resumption follows recorded scope. A local-only reset cannot overwrite iCloud when sync is enabled later. Apple Health cleanup remains optional, and files you exported earlier are separate.
Something I expected isn't on screen
Some controls are deliberately withheld when they'd be meaningless — a Total Time field on an exercise whose single timed Set already is the total, for instance. The guide's Something you expected isn't on screen lists these with the reason for each.
Requirements
JotSet 2.0 runs on iPhone and iPad and requires iOS 18 or later. iPad supports portrait and landscape, including narrow multitasking windows; iPhone is portrait.
