JotSet 2.0 · iPhone and iPad
Privacy
JotSet records your training and keeps it on your device. This page says exactly what leaves it, and what doesn't.
The short version
- Your training data is stored on your device. If you turn on Sync with iCloud, it also syncs through your own private iCloud database.
- There is no JotSet account and no JotSet server holding your records.
- Export and import happen only when you choose.
- JotSet sends one usage signal per day to an analytics service, carrying no training data of any kind.
- No advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, and nothing sold to anyone.
What JotSet stores, and where
Exercises, routines, workouts, Day Logs, Sets (including the body weight you enter on a Set), notes, Exercise Setup details and your preferences are written to databases inside the app's own storage on your device. There is no account to create and no JotSet server.
A new installation keeps its data on this device only, with iCloud sync off. If you turn on Settings → iCloud → Sync with iCloud, sync uses your private CloudKit database, managed by Apple under your Apple Account. JotSet operates no server of its own. The switch controls only this installation, and your choice survives relaunch. Turning it on reconnects to your current Apple Account; different Libraries do not automatically merge and may require conflict recovery. Turning it off keeps local data and pending Cloud changes, leaves your iCloud Library and other installations unchanged, and stops Cloud synchronization and remote registration.
Daily usage analytics
When JotSet becomes active — when you open it or return to it — it sends a single signal named appLaunched to TelemetryDeck, at most once per local calendar day per installation. Its purpose is to measure daily usage and which app versions are in use.
- JotSet attaches no parameters and no custom identifiers. The signal never includes exercise names, workout or Set counts, the dates of your workouts, measurements, body data, notes, file names or any other app data.
- The signal carries the analytics SDK's own standard metadata: app and build version, operating system and device details, calendar fields, an event timestamp, and a vendor identifier that the SDK hashes and manages.
- Automatic session signals and session statistics are switched off. What you do inside the app is not instrumented — no screens, taps or features are reported.
- To avoid sending more than one signal a day, JotSet keeps a single date on your device recording when it last submitted. That marker never leaves the device and is not part of any signal.
- If delivery fails, nothing is retried that day and nothing is shown to you.
In Apple's privacy terms this is declared as Product Interaction and Device ID collected for analytics, not linked to your identity and not used for tracking.
TelemetryDeck is the only third party JotSet sends anything to, and it receives only the signal described above. It processes that signal as JotSet's analytics provider and provides the same or equal protection for it as this policy; see TelemetryDeck's privacy policy.
Apple Health
Apple Health access is optional and off until you turn it on, and the two directions are separate settings.
- Saving workouts out writes workout start, end, duration and activity type for workouts JotSet recorded. Day Logs are never eligible. Later edits and deletions reconcile the copy JotSet wrote.
- Reading workouts in brings across workout summaries recorded by other apps, including energy, heart rate, recorded zone thresholds and time-in-zone durations where available.
- Imported workout history and zone data stay on your device. They are not synchronized through JotSet's CloudKit store, and they leave only if you explicitly include them in a package you export.
- JotSet does not change Health records written by other apps, and it neither reads nor writes body-composition data.
- Health data is never used for advertising, marketing or data mining, and is never shared with anyone, TelemetryDeck included.
- You can turn either direction off in JotSet's Settings, and revoke access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → JotSet.
InBody reports
InBody reports you import from CSV files are stored only on your device. They are not synchronized through iCloud, and they leave only if you explicitly include them in a package you export.
Photos and camera
JotSet 2.0 does not request photo-library or camera access.
Notifications
Rest-timer notifications are scheduled locally on your device, and only if you allow notifications. Permission is requested only when you turn on background rest alerts in Settings. Locked and background alerts use the system default notification sound and may vibrate according to your iOS settings. The in-app rest timer works whether or not permission is granted.
Diagnostics
JotSet can retain a bounded set of technical events on your device — operation and result categories, timing, attempt counts, versions and short-lived correlation identifiers. They contain no workout content, photos, Health samples, account information or stable record and device identifiers.
Managed diagnostics are never sent anywhere automatically. They leave your device only inside a file you choose to export. This is separate from the daily usage signal described above.
Exports and sharing
Exports are files you create and control. A native package is a .workoutlog.zip containing real records, and the readable and AI-readable formats are plain text. Once you save or send one somewhere, it is governed by wherever you put it — so treat an export as you would any other personal file. JotSet reads a file only when you choose to import it.
If you contact support
Email sent to the address below reaches the developer with whatever you put in it: your email address, any device and version details you supply, your description of the problem, and any attachment you choose to send. It is used to answer you and for nothing else. Please don't attach exported packages unless they have been asked for — they contain your real training records.
Deleting your data
Settings → Reset All Data is a full factory reset of this installation: library, history, plans, preferences and diagnostics. It offers a backup first. You confirm it by typing RESET, and it cannot be undone. Optional cleanup covers only the Apple Health copies JotSet itself created.
With sync off, Reset All Data clears only this installation and leaves iCloud unchanged. A synchronized reset can delete the iCloud Library and reach your other installations. Confirmation describes the scope; resumed reset follows its recorded scope. Turning sync on after a local-only reset cannot overwrite the retained iCloud Library and may require conflict recovery. You can also remove the iCloud copy from iCloud storage management in iOS Settings. Removing the app and deleting exported files are separate acts.
The daily usage signal carries no identity of yours, so nothing in it can be matched to you for deletion. For any other question or request about your data, use the contact below.
